Your app.
Built. Shipped.
Handed off.

Oak Studio designs and builds websites and apps for founders and small businesses. One fixed price agreed up front, a real deadline, and a complete handoff at the end. The code, the accounts, and the documentation are yours.

No retainers. No lock-in. No renting your own product back.

Selected work

A travel app, an asset platform, a restaurant, and a private bank. Four products that should look nothing alike, and don't.

Most studios have one house style and apply it to every client. These are the argument against that: each was designed in the language its own customers already trust, down to how the money is set and which corner the price sits in.

All four are self-initiated studio projects. Every screen is running interface code rather than a flat image, so none of it is a render of a quality we cannot actually ship. Open any project to see the decisions behind it.

Process

How a
project
runs

The whole engagement is designed around one idea: you should end up owning a working product, not a relationship with a vendor.

01

Free · 30 minutes

Scope call

You describe the problem; we turn it into a written scope: what the first version does, what it costs, when it ships. You keep the scope either way.

02

Half up front · half on delivery

Fixed quote

One number for the whole project. Anything outside the scope gets its own quote, so your invoice never grows quietly.

03

Live preview from day one

Build in the open

You get a link that updates as the product takes shape, and a short note every few days. Progress you can click, not a slide deck.

04

Everything transferred

Handoff

Code repo, hosting, domain, and docs moved to your accounts, plus a walkthrough call. It runs without us from that day on.

Engagements

Three shapes a project takes. Every one is scoped in writing and quoted as a single fixed number before any work begins.

01 · Launch Site

About 1 week

From a pre-launch landing page to a complete site redesign, we build the thing that makes people trust you enough to get in touch.

Businesses that need to look credible online, fast.

What's included

  • Up to 5 pages, designed, not a template
  • Copy shaped with you, not lorem ipsum
  • Responsive down to small phones
  • Contact form, analytics, and SEO basics wired up
  • Deployed to your own Vercel account and domain
  • Repo transferred to you at the end

02 · Product MVP

Most popular

2–3 weeks

From a first version with accounts and payments to a product you can put in front of real users and learn something true from.

Founders who need something real in front of users this month.

What's included

  • Everything in Launch Site
  • Accounts, database, and an admin view
  • Stripe payments or subscriptions
  • Deployed to production with error monitoring
  • Design system so v2 stays consistent
  • Written docs for running and extending it
  • Walkthrough call at handoff
Start a project →

03 · Custom Build

Scoped per project

From a native iOS app to the v2 of something that outgrew its first version, including the integrations and migrations that come with it.

Teams with a defined problem and a real budget.

What's included

  • Everything in Product MVP
  • Native iOS, or a multi-surface product
  • Third-party integrations and data migration
  • Automated tests and a security review
  • Weekly demos against a written scope
  • Handoff docs aimed at your next developer
  • 30-day support window after delivery

How quoting works

A free scope call, then one fixed number for the whole project in writing. You keep the scope either way.

If it runs long

The price is fixed. If the build takes longer than quoted, that cost is ours, not yours.

Scope changes

Quoted separately as their own line item, and only started once you approve them.

Not included

Ongoing retainers, content writing at length, and rescuing half-built codebases.

FAQ

01What does "handoff" actually mean?+

When the project is done, everything is yours: the code repository, the hosting accounts, the domain, the documentation. You are not renting software from us. If you never speak to us again, everything keeps working.

02Why fixed price instead of hourly?+

Hourly billing rewards slowness and makes your cost unpredictable. A fixed price means we agree on what gets built and what it costs before work starts. Scope changes are quoted as their own line items, so there are no surprise invoices.

03What if I don't know exactly what I need?+

That's normal. The first call is free and its job is to turn your idea into a concrete scope: what's in the first version, what waits, and what it costs. You get that scope in writing whether or not you hire me.

04Is the work in your portfolio for real clients?+

The four projects shown are self-initiated studio projects: designed, built, and written up here end to end. They exist to show how the studio thinks and what the finished quality looks like, and every screen on those pages is running interface code rather than a picture. Client projects go up here only once the client agrees to it.

05How many projects do you take at once?+

Two at a time, which is what keeps the timelines above honest. If both slots are full when you get in touch, you'll be told the next start date rather than quietly queued.

06What do you build with?+

Mostly TypeScript, React, and Next.js for web; Swift for iOS; Postgres for data; Stripe for payments; Vercel or your own cloud for hosting. Boring, well-supported tools that the next developer can pick up easily.

07Do you offer ongoing maintenance?+

Every project includes a short support window for fixes. After that, you can hire us for follow-up work at a fixed quote, or hand the project to anyone else, because the handoff docs are written so that's easy.
